the dreams: hanging out with adam & jenny. their house has a detached garage, in a row with other garages. the garages line up against a huge open space. turns out they own the world cup soccer field that is there. their house is in a town called ‘inflection micro,’ somewhere in texas. it’s near ‘inflection macro’ which also goes by the name ‘marfa.’ adam tells me that when they bought the place they found 5000 gold watches in the garage. i suggest they have a picnic in the middle of the field during the world cup.
i’m looking at a tree next to a curb somewhere along a suburban street. the tree was paved over with asphalt. i dig up the asphalt and pull the tree up and move it from the street. not sure if i replant it or just toss it to the side.
megan is having a lunch with her employees. they are hanging out in a dimly-lit kitchen. they are eating tortilla chips and peering through the window screens. they seem to be laughing at the people in the pool.
i’m on a wet, rain-soaked american football field with a bunch of strangers. some of them appear to be former NFL stars. one of them is junior seau. we are playing keep-away with someone’s paycheck. it is in an envelope with no markings.
i’m looking at photos of me and my cousins at a family reunion. we wind up meeting our family at some restaurant. i’m told tracy stumbled in and is in the bathroom. i’m sitting with my grandfather. someone goes to pay the bill but i don’t move. my grandpa tries to get up to go pay for everyone but I won’t let him. i reassure him that it’s ok and he has nothing to be ashamed of. i try to understand how it is that my grandfather is there. i’m sad that I know this is the last time i’ll see him.
